Vítor Tedim Cruz was born in Porto, Portugal in 1974. Recebeu a sua graduação em Medicina no ICBAS-HGSA, Universidade do Porto (1992-1998), graduou-se como especialista de Neurologia (2001-2005), avançou com uma pós-graduação Gestão de Sistemas de Saúde na Oporto Business School (2009-2010) e concluiu o seu doutoramento em Ciências da Saúde e Tecnologia na Universidade de Aveiro em 2014. In 2015 he integrated the Epidemiological Research Unit at the Public Health Institute of the University of Oporto.
Os seus principais interesses de investigação são na neurorreabilitação, neurologia cognitiva e comportamental e doenças cerebrovasculares. He is the principal investigator and co-investigator of public funded scientific projects and co-author of international peer-reviewed articles indexed in Pubmed, 15 books and book chapters. Deu aulas teóricas de neurociências como Assistente Convidado no Departamento de Ciências da Saúde da Universidade de Aveiro (2006-2014). As a Senior Neurologist (2006-2016) he worked at the Neurology Department, Centro Hospitalar Entre Douro e Vouga, Santa Maria da Feira, Portugal, where he ran a memory clinic and acute stroke care organisation. In 2011 he co-founded Neuroinova, a company dedicated to research and development of technologies in the field of cognitive rehabilitation and commercialisation of COGWEB®, Brain on Track® and CACAO® systems. He is a member of the board of the Portuguese Stroke Organisation (since 2011) and of the board of Neurologists of the Portuguese Medical Council (2012-2021). Since 2016 he is head of the Neurology Department and Stroke Unit at Unidade Local de Saúde de Matosinhos, Portugal.
