Justinian Bilavschi

Roménia

Justin has always had a strong passion for science and for understanding how the universe around us is built. His desire to understand how biology works, and the very basics of life, lead him to pursue a career in medical biology, with an emphasis on human anatomy and genetics.

After obtaining a bachelor’s degree in biology at Alexandru Ioan Cuza University in Iași, Romania, he pursued a master’s degree in medical biology at Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca. In the course of his studies he learned about the importance of bacterial genomics and antibiotic resistance, and how that knowledge could be used to improve healthcare in hospitals.

Previously, he worked as a senior editor for Biology and Animal Science open-access journals where he had the immense privilege to keep abreast of all scientific news in the field of genetics and anatomy. He is confident that the knowledge gained in this role will help him bring about change in healthcare in Romania.

Justin says, “I truly believe that two of the strongest traits a human can possess are compassion and kindness. With these two qualities we can make the difference for a patient that is struggling in a difficult moment. I have seen these qualities in Angels Initiative members, and this convinced me to join the team.

“We still have a long road ahead of us, but with perseverance we can make one of the biggest and most positive changes in healthcare that Romania has seen until now.
